A lifelong Jefferson County resident, Tim was raised in House Springs, graduated from Northwest High School, and built his career here at home. Jefferson County isn’t simply where Tim lives, it’s where he was raised, where he built his family, and where he has dedicated more than two decades to protecting, strengthening, and serving the community he loves.
Tim’s commitment to service began early when he graduated from the Jefferson College Law Enforcement Academy and joined the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in 2002 as a patrol deputy. From day one, he built a reputation for hard work, discipline, and leadership.

He served on the SWAT team, worked as a detective in the county’s multi-jurisdictional drug task force, commanded narcotics enforcement efforts, led special operations, supervised traffic safety and DWI enforcement, directed firearms training programs, and served as SWAT Team Leader—one of the most demanding leadership roles in law enforcement. His work dismantling methamphetamine operations earned national attention, with coverage from national media outlets including CNN, Reuters, and USA Today.
In 2017, Tim was appointed Undersheriff of Jefferson County, where he now serves as second-in-command of one of the county’s most important public institutions. In that role, Tim has proven himself as a law enforcement professional and executive leader.
He oversees daily operations, manages strategic planning, supervises major capital projects, and serves as chief financial officer for a budget exceeding $30 million annually. Under Tim’s leadership, the department has expanded capabilities, increased patrol staffing, modernized operations, and invested in cutting-edge forensic infrastructure; all while maintaining strict budget discipline and protecting taxpayer dollars.
Tim brings the exact kind of leadership Jefferson County needs: executive experience, fiscal responsibility, operational excellence, and a servant’s heart.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management, a Master of Public Administration from Webster University, a Graduate Certificate in Criminal Justice from University of Virginia, and is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy (an honor reserved for the top law enforcement leaders in America).
Outside of public service, Tim serves local charities and nonprofit organizations, supports community initiatives, and remains deeply involved in the civic life of Jefferson County.
Tim and his wife, Stefanie, a teacher in the Fox School District, are proudly raising their two children in Jefferson County.

Public Safety First
Safe communities are the foundation of a strong county. Tim Whitney has spent more than 20 years protecting Jefferson County families and understands what it takes to keep communities secure. As County Executive, he will strengthen coordination between county government, law enforcement, fire districts, and emergency services to ensure Jefferson County remains one of the safest places in Missouri to live, work, and raise a family.
He will support law enforcement, invest in emergency preparedness, strengthen anti-drug efforts, and ensure first responders have the resources they need to serve effectively. Public safety will never take a back seat in Jefferson County.

Jefferson County taxpayers deserve a government that lives within its means. Tim has managed tens of millions of taxpayer dollars with accountability, transparency, and discipline. He understands budgeting isn’t about politics, it’s about good stewardship.
